The Cost

I believe that the Mediation Fee should be clear and proportionate to the value of the dispute. I always quote individually after discussion with you about the participants’ requirements and my fee will reflect a number of factors.

Where a dispute does not primarily involve monetary claims (e.g. boundary disputes), daily or hourly rates will be quoted reflecting factors such as complexity, importance to the participants, and their means. I am always prepared to offer concessionary rates where there is need.

Please call me to discuss your case. I rarely fail to provide a solution at a price acceptable to the participants.

Please note that if I am appointed via my mediation chambers, In Place of Strife, then different rates may apply.

Remote mediations

Alistair has extensive experience in conducting remote mediations involving participants from all over the world.  His preferred platform is Zoom.    Remote mediations work when set up and conducted correctly and, with the use of virtual private rooms, emulate in-person mediations very closely.  For remote mediations Alistair offers a 15% discount on the guideline rates set out below.

These fees include all of the following:

• All administration associated with the mediation
• Five hours reading and preparation time
• Pre-mediation liaison with each of the parties’ and/or their lawyers 
• Travel time
• An 8 hour mediation day
• If no settlement is achieved on the day, further work via telephone, video conferencing and/or email (within reason) 

If reading and preparation time and/or the mediation day exceed the hours stated above then an hourly rate will apply which is 10% of the overall fee divided into 15 minute units.
